Wednesday Gaming – Game Studio Closing, Suikoden Remasters Delay and MORE!
Catch up on the latest news, rumours and announcements from the world of video games, tech and entertainment:
– After 15 years in the business, Mimimi Games – the German game developer behind titles such as “Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun”, “Desperados III” and “Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew” – are closing down.
– Per a blog post written by founders Dominik Abe and Johannes Roth on Tuesday, 29 August, Mimimi Games will be “slowly ramping down” over the coming months, as “future production costs are growing faster than potential revenues of our genre. The increased financial pressure and level of risk became unsustainable.”
– Judging from the LinkedIn page of Michael Unsworth, the vice-president of writing at Rockstar Games who co-wrote “Red Dead Redemption 2”, he is apparently no longer working for the company, as the page states that his tenure ended this year.
– According to a tweet made by Konami, the HD remasters of “Suikoden 1” and “Suikoden 2” (which would have been released collectively as “Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars”) will no longer be released in 2023, as “additional time is needed to ensure the quality performance and gameplay experience our users deserve.”
– A second patch is on its way to “Baldur’s Gate 3”. Per a tweet by Larian Studios, the patch will include “major performance improvements.” Additionally, a Steam community post indicates that a better ending for one of the characters, Karlach, will be added.
